Duties and responsibilities
Release Coordination & Readiness
- Coordinate end-to-end software releases across multiple engineering teams and environments
- Build and maintain release plans together with Project Managers, Product stakeholders, Scrum teams, QA and IT
- Track release scope, dependencies, readiness criteria, risks and outstanding actions
- Coordinate integration, regression, UAT and deployment readiness activities with the responsible teams
- Ensure release packages, versions, documentation and handover information are complete and traceable
- Coordinate deployment windows and production rollout activities with IT and other operational stakeholders
- Support post-release verification, issue coordination and lessons learned
- Support engineering teams with Git branching, merging, versioning and release-branch practices
- Help resolve branch, integration and build issues that block releases
- Coordinate and, where appropriate, execute or troubleshoot software builds and release packaging
- Maintain clear version and artifact traceability from source code to deployed release
- Work with development teams to simplify branching strategies and reduce avoidable integration overhead
- Work closely with DevOps / Platform Engineering and IT on CI/CD pipelines, build automation and deployment processes
- Identify repetitive or error-prone release activities and help drive their automation
- Support improvements to quality gates, automated tests, artifact handling and deployment reliability
- Contribute practical release-engineering input to the organization's DevOps maturity journey
- Use delivery data and DORA-related measures - such as deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate and recovery time - to identify concrete opportunities for improving the release process
- Support the transition from large release events toward smaller, more frequent and higher-confidence releases
- Act as a pragmatic bridge between developers, Scrum teams, Project Managers, QA, DevOps / Platform Engineering and IT
- Make release dependencies, blockers and technical risks visible early and drive them to resolution with the responsible owners
- Create and improve lightweight release procedures, checklists and standards without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy
- Promote ownership, transparency and continuous improvement around software delivery
- Share release knowledge and help teams become increasingly self-sufficient in reliable delivery practices
Required Qualifications, Experience & Competencies
- 3+ years of experience in release engineering, software engineering, build engineering, DevOps, technical release management or a closely related role
- Strong practical understanding of Git-based source control, branching, merging, tagging and versioning
- Hands-on understanding of software build processes and CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to investigate and troubleshoot build, integration and release issues together with engineers
- Good understanding of software delivery lifecycles across development, test and production environments
- Comfort working across different technology stacks and hybrid infrastructure environments; deep expertise in one specific programming language is not required
- Experience coordinating releases or technical deliveries involving multiple teams and stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Scrum teams, developers, QA, DevOps / Platform Engineering and IT operations
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain clarity under release pressure
- Structured problem-solving mindset and willingness to get hands-on when a release is blocked
- Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to translate technical release issues for non-specialist stakeholders
- Ownership mentality and a strong bias toward reliability, automation and continuous improvement
- English proficiency (written and spoken)
- Understanding of DevOps and continuous delivery principles
- Interest in improving engineering flow and release performance using measurable outcomes
- Pragmatic approach: improve the system step by step while keeping current releases moving
- Curiosity toward automation, developer tooling and AI-assisted engineering workflows
